Une synthèse de la lettre ouverte de Pierre Calame aux candidats à la présidence de la République, dans laquelle il expose les grandes mutations à mettre en œuvre pour renouer avec la démocratie et mettre nos sociétés sur la voie de la transition écologique.

"Jamais, dans le monde, la démocratie n'a été aussi ardemment désirée par ceux qui en sont privés.

Rarement elle a autant déçu ceux qui en jouissent. Comment lui redonner vigueur dans un monde interdépendant, mis au défi de concevoir et conduire au cours des décennies à venir une mutation qui impliquera, du niveau local au niveau global, un changement profond des systèmes de pensée et des institutions qui, en amont des choix politiques, structurent les modes de gestion de la société, les comportements individuels et collectifs, les systèmes de production, les modes de vie ?

Depuis plus de vingt ans, le doute s'est instillé dans les esprits : la démocratie telle que nous la connaissons, soumise à la tyrannie des sondages et des médias, avec des responsables politiques sommés d'apporter des réponses au jour le jour, polarisés par la sphère politique nationale, peut-elle prendre à bras le corps les mutations à long terme ? Si elle s'en avère incapable, la démocratie est condamnée."
